To study a co-infection scenario between SARS-CoV-2 and malaria. The population in many African countries is at high risk of contracting COVID-19 and malaria. Co-infection has not been studied despite the similarities in the pathways of entry of both pathogens and their space-time co-occurrence. The results will provide new data on the routes of entry and infection of the virus and interactions with other pathogens, as well as on the mechanism of action and effectiveness of anti-malarial drugs (anti-malaria such as chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine).
